As I fade to black it seems maybe the vote on the New York same sex marriage bill wont happen today. More important things, such as rent controls, seem to have gotten in the way. But more likely it's the Archbishop's fear gay marriage will turn this country into North Korea, or China, or god forbid a theocratic state such as Iran. Or maybe it's just the Republican members of the Senate fear that if they do what's right, and actually vote their conscience instead of their wallet, the golden sun won't come up in the morning. Sometimes it just all makes me want to scream, but not now, not yet. The thought of being on the right side of history still makes me smile.

On a lighter note Lady Gaga's video for "The Edge of Glory" premiered tonight. I have to admit that although I'm a closet Gaga fan I haven't always been the biggest fan of her vids. But this is awesome, just a stark understated video that features only Lady Gaga and Jersey shore legend E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons. It really is totally awesome, take a look.
Clarence Clemons suffered a stroke last weekend and his condition is still listed as serious. The family has said fans can send wishes via email to notestoclarence@clarenceclemons.com.

Observations from my Bed 11.3
And so it's after two in the morning and I can't turn off the TV, still glued to MSNBC. It must be Rachel in that grey blazer because it cant be Matthews, sometimes the man just doesn’t know when to shut it. Election night comes to an end and I have no idea what it means but I do know one thing. Sharron Angle hopefully enjoyed her fifteen minutes of fame and now can take her bigoted ass back into whatever desert hole she crawled out of.
Some random thoughts from a night of election watching. Andrew Coumo crushed Carl Paladino like a bug on the windshield and I would be only to happy to be the one turning on the wipers. Outgoing Governor Ed of Pennsylvania called democrats wussies. As much as I hate to admit it he spoke the truth. God dems open your mouths and kick some ass! We are right and they are wrong. Don't try and be so damn civil and just say it. Say it! Governor elect of California Jerry Brown might not be the youngest guy but he rocks.
Watched John Boehner give a little 'we won' speech. Dude had tears in his eyes, choked up, must have been because his new tanning bed had just arrived. Keith Olbermann had the best line here when he said he said he thought the Democrats should be the ones crying tonight.
Headline of the night ....
" BREAKING: Openly gay Providence mayor elected to Congress."
My favorite tweets ....
@billmaher: Its Election Day! Unless ur a billionaire, vote for the party that gave u healthcare, stopped a Depression and got out of Iraq
@erockett89: Rachels like Chris stfu and dont talk over me before I bitch slap you. bitch.
@BrianLynch: Meg Whitman discovered the position of governer does not have a "Buy it Now" option.
And a final thought. How in the name of any god could Rand Paul be elected to the United States Senate? Bigot, bully, thug. He will be heard, he will be seen, but in the end he will amount to nothing. But still he was elected and it boggles my mind. Think about that over your morning coffee.
Life goes on
update - Two morning observations. I don't think Lawrence O'Donnell sleeps, at all. Seriously the man was on until 1AM and there he is again. And Mika Brzezinski in a black turtleneck and slacks, enough said.
update 2 - One final tweet than I get on with my life ....

Observations from my Bed 10.27.1
An incredibly dreary day begins in the Village with a misty rain falling throughout a warm and humid Indian summer morning. I am all for Indian summer on a nice clear day but my body seems ready for cooler weather and I just don’t need the humidity. It makes my hair curl into a tangled mess with no hope of recovery, like I spent the whole morning in bed doing nothing of any substance beyond the pure pleasure of spending the whole morning in bed. Speaking of bed, I think this might be a good morning to work from bed for a bit, seriously if you can do it why not? I like my big bed and it’s a good thing I do because the damn thing fills my bedroom to the point that most of my stuffs are just piled around it. Light a few candles, find my comps, and start the mug of endless coffee flowing and I’m ready to go.
Yes my computers, I went a little computer ‘OOC’ last night. Logged into Second Life to chat with a friend and found myself on three computers at the same time. SL on my desktop, blogs on my laptop, and Twitter on my netbook which was balanced precariously on my knees with my feet propped up on the desk. You know you are out of control when you have two mice and keep grabbing the wrong one. I just had to shut the two laps down and concentrate on chatting.
With the big election less than a week away I find myself sick of most of it. So much to do and all we talk about tea part nut jobs and their wing nut followers. It all reached a new low last night when I saw a video (l) of a Rand Paul campaign worker stomping the head of a MoveOn.org activist as security and Rand Paul himself walked by. One of the Art History classes I had at Penn State included a section on German propaganda during the Nazi era and that’s all I could think of. It scares the hell out of me that I could think of that and my country in the same vein. Scares the hell out of me.
My sports world is in a pathetic mess too. It’s hard to decide who was worse last weekend, the Phillies just losing or the Eagles giving up twenty some unanswered points in the fourth quarter to lose. I can’t get the sight of Ryan Howard watching the final strike of the season cross the plate out of my mind. Not even a swing, it just seemed a fitting end to the series. Penn State is in a state of flux too with a very young team and seemingly floundering. At this point only a win over Ohio State in early November will salvage much of their season. There are a few bright spots. For one there will be no Yankees in the World Series and the Dallas Cowboys just totally suck. There is just no other word to describe the Cowboys. And finally my sis’ hockey career refuses to die after a big upset win in her teams’ first district playoff game yesterday. I have to wait and see when and where the next game is and than maybe plan a road trip. I so want to see her play one last time but it just doesn’t seem to be in the wind. Cross your fingers.
So, all thinks considered, I think I would find it very easy to slip into one of my moods today. But than I received an email containing the video I posted just before this. I laughed so hard and just thought there is no way in hell I am going to let this effed up world get to me today. Thanks for the email!
Well the end of the month is always such a busy time of the month for me yet I find it hard to concentrate on more than one thing at a time. So I’ll have to finish here and concentrate on the important thing, working from bed.

Observations from my Bed 9.29
(Consider yourself warned, what follows is my deciphering of some mad 3AM scribbles.)
Is three am late at night or is it early in the morning? It doesn’t really matter at all when your mind won’t let you sleep, just falling into one of those tired but wired moods. After looking at some photos I took earlier today I find I can’t stop thinking.
It was just a little photo job, some portfolio shots for a girl, I had fun and even got paid. But now I can’t get some idiotic thoughts out of my head. Lately I have been so totally immersed in my photography that I haven’t painted, or even thought about painting, at all. I know photography is an art, and a photographer is an artist in every sense of the word, but it just doesn’t have the same feel to me.
It is just so different from painting and not just the instant gratification aspect of it. When I paint a part of my brain takes over that sees things nobody else sees. A photo merely records what anybody can see given the same circumstances and time. In a painting I totally lose myself in a world of colors and emotions, sometimes losing myself for days at a time. When I take a photo I don’t come close to that feeling at all.
What has me thinking is this nagging fear that I am starting to lose that world, lose my ability to dive into it whenever I want. In so many ways that world is my ‘real’ world, the place I can lose myself, the place that I am happiest (other than a full Beaver Stadium on a Saturday night), and at times I just feel like it is all suddenly slipping away. So much is going on in my life that I may need that place more than ever but I can’t seem find it. It is as if I am standing in front of a locked door, reach for the key I always carried, and find it isn’t there.
(Hey, I did warn you.)

Observations from my Bed 9.12

I don’t normally post photos in this blog but I found this one on a tumblr site that just is so totally a look into my mind that I had to share it. From top to bottom I think I have finally found my long lost twin sister. The hair, skin, pants, hands, and yes the ass are all so me, I just wish I had taken the shot. Why the hell didn’t I think of it! Oh and I can’t forget the word, karma ….
Yes karma

Observations from my Bed 5.3
After a hectic weekend, really a hectic week, I’m taking a day off to veg and blog from a new locale. Sitting cross-legged in my big comfy bed, a bed that is way too big for the room it is in. I have thought of getting a new one but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I glance through the open door and see my window seat not too far away and glancing through that my mind returns to the mountains and I smile as I think how magic that place still is for me.
A short drive out from State College followed by a hike into the woods to *my* place, a spot all my own in the mountains. A secret spot I have never shown anybody. One time Sean tried to follow me by GPS, convinced I was doing like Cheech and Chong and growing weed in the woods. Poor child doesn’t realize you can turn GPS off. I worry that one day he will graduate, be working outside, and wonder off into his own woods, lost forever.
I can sit there on the ledge, looking into the valley below, and everything in my mind seems to melt away. All the problems, stresses, and worries of my life gone for as long as I want them too be. Just me alone with a clean slate and the trees, the birds, the foraging deer, and an occasional wondering bear. And, if I’m being truthful here, maybe now and than a beer too. But that’s for another time.
So here I am camped out in bed for the day. Doing a little of this and a little of that. Stocked with coffee, a jumbo box of Cheezits, and my cell phone turned off, I'm ready to do pretty much nothing at all until somebody makes me. Sometimes life is best when you just don’t participate. Now I have a little of this to do.
Than I sigh, damnit, I need a smoke. Guess I’ll be writing from the roof next ….
