This is a segment of The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell from last week that shows, rather graphically, the pepper spray incident I mentioned in my last post. The video speaks for itself so I won't say much but I am a little amazed how little attention it has received in mainstream media. Keep in mind the officers wearing the white shirts are actually senior commanders and don't miss the part about the video camera.

This country is tearing itself apart. What you see is fear tactics used to control crowds and to instill fear in others watching in hopes that they will not join the growing number of protesters. It is in fact standard procedure in any regime set on keeping control of its people. Because fear is the ultimate weapon against the masses. Cops use violence. Wall Street uses lawyers. The government uses lies. Misinformation and fear.

Your'e absolutely right about the fear. Republicans have been using it for years to win elections. Fear of terrorists, fear of immigrants, fear of gays, just fear of anybody different. Sad thing is it works more often than not.
ReplyDeleteBy the looks of the crowd just a couple blocks from our apartment it seems to be getting much bigger. Time will tell.
